As a new Natural Sista with Long Hair Goal, I obviously had to try the rice water.
Being a lazy naturalista, I found that the rice water soaking method was the most effective for me.
Stick around to find out why I recommend it, how I use it and the results I obtained.
Rice water is a method that has been used for many years especially in Asian culture.
There is no scientific evidence, but it claims to have amazing benefits such as detangling and smoothing hair, increasing shine, making hair stronger and promoting growth.
This will be due to the elements it contains with amino acids being on top of the list.
Amino acids provide hair with moisture strength and can also repair hair surface damage.
THE SOAKING METHOD
I use the soaking method (because I’m a lazy natural sometimes…most of the time…) which consists in leaving the rice soak in water for up to 48 hours.
Instead of using it as a rinse after my shampoo, I mix the following ingredients it in my spray bottle from Hairitage boutique:
-Aloe Vera juice
-Rosemary essential oil.
It became part of my night time routine: spray, leave-in conditioner, protective style and satin bonnet for the win!
This way, I am able to enjoy the benefits of rice water on a daily basis while hydrating my hair.
I will also advise not to use it for more than 3 months in a row as it can make your hair feel dry in the long run.
You can check my progress using my method on my Instagram page.
RICE WATER PRODUCTS YOU MUST TRY
If you are not a DIY Queen or simply can’t put up with the smell of rice water, don’t worry!
Loads of brands have been introducing this ingredient in their hair care formula.
One good example is the range from Mielle Organics which I will probably review soon.
Another good brand that I would recommend is Briogeo Curl Charisma.
They use amino acids as the main ingredient and claim to care for curls and coils.
I would love to know what your go-to product for hair growth is? Have you tried rice water yourself? Let me know in the comment section!
